Jose Luis Roig Sabate

Jose Luis Roig Sabate is a faculty member in the Department of Applied Economics at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), affiliated with the Faculty of Economics and Business. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from UAB (1992) and advanced studies in Urban and Regional Planning from the London School of Economics (1986). His research focuses on urban spatial structures, demographic trends, transportation policy, and regional development. Key projects include RURALITIC (2025–2028) on rural revival and the demographic challenges project (2022–2025). Recent work examines ageing populations in European regions and the impact of congestion on public transit usage. He has contributed over 59 publications and actively participates in interdisciplinary collaborations.
