Jose Luis Bermúdez is a Professor of Philosophy at Texas A&M University, where he also served as Dean of Liberal Arts and Associate Provost for Strategic Planning. Previously, he led the Philosophy-Neuroscience-Psychology program at Washington University in St. Louis. His research bridges philosophy, psychology, and cognitive science, focusing on self-representation, rationality, and non-linguistic thought. Educated at St Paul’s School (London) and Cambridge University, he has authored influential works such as Thinking Without Words and Cognitive Science: An Introduction. His interdisciplinary contributions include studies on decision theory, embodied cognition, and the philosophical foundations of mind. Recognized as one of the 100 most cited philosophers globally, Bermúdez’s work appears in seven languages.
