Jos Lelieveld

Dr. Jos Lelieveld is a Professor at The Cyprus Institute and leads the Environmental Prediction Department of the Climate and Atmosphere Research Center (CARE-C). He earned his PhD in Physics and Astronomy from Utrecht University (1990) under Nobel laureate Paul Crutzen, and has held professorships at Wageningen University (1993), Utrecht University (1995), and served as Director at the Max Planck Institute for Chemistry (2000–2008).

• Appointed 'Institute Professor' by The Cyprus Institute in 2010

His research focuses on atmospheric chemistry and climate interactions, including:

• Ozone photochemistry and atmospheric self-cleaning mechanisms
• Role of reactive gases and aerosols in biogeochemical cycles
• Air quality, climate change, and planetary health

With over 400 peer-reviewed publications, he has made significant contributions to understanding atmospheric processes and their environmental impacts.
