Jorunn Midtsundstad is a Professor at the University of Agder, affiliated with the Department of Pedagogy. Her career focuses on inclusive education, school development, and didactic theory, with a particular emphasis on how expectation structures shape school culture and student outcomes.
- Project Manager for School-In (2017–2020), an innovation project funded by the Research Council of Norway under the FINNUT program.
- Research stay at Lynch School of Education, Boston College (2015), collaborating with Professor Dennis Shirley.
- Co-led the Learning Regions project (2012–2014) and KLARAS (2012–2014), both funded by the Research Council of Norway.
Her research explores the interplay between local contexts, teacher expectations, and school organization, aiming to bridge epistemological nationalism with international dialogue. She has published extensively on topics like professional learning communities, organizational didactics, and systemic educational change, often in collaboration with Nordic and international scholars.
Keynote speaker engagements include the Chamber of Labour in Vienna (2020, canceled due to pandemic) and lectures at the University of Vienna (2010). She serves as a reviewer for Journal of Curriculum Studies and Journal of Educational Change, and has acted as an opponent at Aalborg University (2014).
