Jorge Marco is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Politics, Languages & International Studies at the University of Bath. He specializes in Spanish history, political violence, and memory studies. His research focuses on the Spanish Civil War, Francoist repression, transnational resistance movements, and gender studies.
Education: PhD in History (University Complutense de Madrid, 2011), MA in Publishing (University of Salamanca, 2007), and MA/MPhil in History (University Complutense de Madrid, 2007). He has held positions at the London School of Economics as a Research Fellow and visiting roles at universities in Nottingham, Leeds, and Exeter.
Research interests include the Spanish Famine (1936–1952), transnational soldier networks, and historical memory projects like the 'Mapa de la memoria histórica de Granada.' His work addresses UN Sustainable Development Goals related to education and peacebuilding.
Recent publications analyze Francoist violence statistics, transnational resistance dynamics, and the role of drugs in the Spanish Civil War. He collaborates internationally, focusing on comparative dictatorship studies and historical trauma.
