Jorge Machado is a Professor at the School of Arts, Sciences and Humanities (EACH) at the University of São Paulo, specializing in Public Policy Management. He serves as Coordinator of COLAB/USP (Co-laboratory of Development and Participation), where he leads research on open government, digital rights, and social participation. His work bridges academic research with practical policy applications, particularly in the areas of transparency, justice reform, and the impact of digital technologies on democratic processes.
Professor Machado's research interests span Public Policy, Open Government, Digital Rights, Generative AI in Public Management, Transparency and Justice, Social Participation, Data Privacy, Intellectual Property, Political Sociology, Indigenous Rights, and Participatory Budgeting. His work demonstrates a consistent focus on how digital technologies transform governance and citizen engagement, with particular attention to issues of equity, transparency, and democratic innovation. Recent projects explore the application of generative AI in public management and citizen participation, examining both the potential benefits and risks of these technologies.

His current projects include 'Participatory Public Management using generative AI' (2024-2026) and 'Application of Artificial Intelligence System to promote social participation through the Participe Mais portal,' demonstrating his commitment to applying academic research to real-world governance challenges.
