معرفی
Jorge Golowasch is a Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), part of the College of Science and Liberal Arts. His research focuses on neuronal network dynamics, neuromodulation mechanisms, and the biophysical properties governing cellular and network-level activity. He has led multiple federally funded projects investigating ionic current correlations, parameter space constraints, and network robustness.
Key grants include a 2024 NSF project exploring how neuromodulators constrain neuronal parameter space (2024-2028), a 2017 NSF grant studying ionic current correlations in network activity, and NIH-funded work on conductance correlations tuning neuronal networks (2014-2016). He co-led an NSF UBM training program (2004-2010) integrating undergraduate biology and mathematics.
His research spans topics like membrane capacitance daily oscillations (Cell Reports, 2024), network complexity enhancing robustness (PNAS, 2023), and spontaneous recovery of oscillatory activity post-neuromodulator removal (Frontiers, 2023). Articles highlight methodological innovations in measuring membrane properties and theoretical frameworks for neural system stability.
Golowasch collaborates internationally, with recent work involving institutions across diverse geographies. He actively participates in academic events, including NJIT's Dana Knox Research Showcase and College of Science & Liberal Arts celebrations, fostering student engagement and interdisciplinary dialogue.
