Jorge Fernandez Martinez

Jorge Fernandez Martinez is an Associate Professor in Philosophy at the University of Adelaide's School of Humanities. His research explores intersections between philosophy of mind and epistemology, focusing on self-knowledge, memory, and imagination. He developed the 'transparency' theory of self-knowledge and the reflexive content model of memory.

Martinez earned his undergraduate degree from University of Barcelona and Ph.D. from Brown University (2003). Before Adelaide, he held positions at Macquarie University, ANU's Centre for Consciousness, and Bowdoin College.

Current investigations examine how imaginative episodes represent content, building on ARC-funded projects including 'The Ownership of Minds' (2017-2020) and 'The truth about false memory' (2013-2015). He teaches courses in metaphysics, epistemology, philosophy of mind, existentialism, and early modern philosophy.
