Jordan H Grafman, PhD is a Professor at both the Feinberg School of Medicine and the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences at Northwestern University. His primary affiliation is with the Departments of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. As Director of Brain Injury Research at the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, Grafman integrates structural and functional neuroimaging, non-invasive brain stimulation, and genetic analysis to advance understanding of human cognition and recovery post-injury.
Education:
- PhD: University of Wisconsin (1981)
Research Focus centers on the human prefrontal cortex, neuroplasticity, memory, and social neuroscience. His work explores executive functions, brain injury recovery, and computational models of behavior through fMRI, genetic profiling, and neurostimulation.
Recent Publications highlight applications of AI in analyzing brain connectivity, lesion mapping for psychiatric disorders, and neurotrauma metrics. These studies emphasize translational neuroscience and clinical interventions.
Scientific Leadership includes editorial roles and advisory board memberships across major neuroscience organizations. Grafman actively contributes to professional societies like the Society for Neuroscience and Organization for Human Brain Mapping.
Clinical Trials led by Grafman include acute intermittent hypoxia for TBI rehabilitation, targeting neuroplasticity in post-concussion patients. His expertise spans traumatic brain injury, rehabilitation science, and cognitive neurology.
