Jordan Buck is a Senior Tutor in Law at Durham Law School and a PhD candidate at the Durham CELLS (Centre for Ethics and Law in the Life Sciences). He holds an LLB and MJur from Durham University, where he has been since 2017. His current roles include part-time teaching in Law and Medicine, co-convening CELLS, and serving as a PGR representative. He volunteers with the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) and sits on the editorial board of the Philosophy, Public Policy, and Transnational Law book series.
His research focuses on the role of human dignity in end-of-life decision-making under English and German law, analyzing how dignity might align patient-centric approaches across legal frameworks. Supervised by Dr. Sam Halliday and Professor Emma Cave, his work compares the English best interests approach with German presumed will frameworks.
Publications include a 2023 article in the Anglo-German Law Journal, exploring German legal models for English medical law. Jordan is funded by the AHRC through the Northern Bridge Consortium and has held affiliations with the Institute for Medical Humanities.
