معرفی
Joram van Rheede is a Senior Postdoctoral Neuroengineer at the University of Oxford's Institute of Biomedical Engineering and MRC Brain Network Dynamics Unit (BNDU), collaborating with Professors Timothy Denison and Andrew Sharott. He is also a Lecturer in Psychology at Christ Church College, delivering tutorials to undergraduate students in Experimental Psychology and Medicine. His research focuses on understanding the interplay between sleep/wake cycles, circadian rhythms, and neurological/psychiatric conditions, leveraging data from brain stimulation devices in human patients. He develops closed-loop neuromodulation strategies to optimize therapies for sleep and circadian disorders, combining in silico modeling, animal studies, and clinical trials.
Dr. van Rheede holds a BA in Liberal Arts and Sciences from Utrecht University (2007), followed by a Wellcome Trust MSc + DPhil in Neuroscience at the University of Oxford (2008–2013). His doctoral work examined neural activity in visual system development. He has contributed to postdoctoral research on sensory prosthetics and neural processing, joining the Sharott Lab in 2020 and the Translational Bioelectronics Lab in 2023.
His research groups include the Oxford Translational Bioelectronics lab (Prof. Denison) and the Sharott Lab (closed-loop neuromodulation). Notable projects include the CADET studies for pediatric epilepsy and investigations into chronotherapy via adaptive deep brain stimulation. His work spans clinical neurology, neuroengineering, and translational bioelectronics, aiming to bridge basic research and clinical applications.
His labs focus on advancing neuromodulation technologies and understanding circadian influences on neurological therapies. While no awards are explicitly listed here, his contributions to closed-loop systems and sleep research reflect significant scholarly impact.
