Joongi Shin is a Postdoctoral Researcher affiliated with the Department of Information and Communications Engineering and the User Interfaces research group. He holds a Doctoral degree from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), awarded in August 2021. His research focuses on advancing human-AI collaboration in design, exploring topics like large language models (LLMs), participatory design, and consensus-building in co-design processes. He investigates how AI can enhance workflow efficiency, idea generation, and user interface design while addressing challenges in posture ergonomics and collaborative technologies.
Key research trends include analyzing AI's role in problem reframing, generating personas, and integrating chatbots for consensus-building. His work bridges computational tools with human-centric design principles, emphasizing practical applications in both digital and physical domains. Collaborations with researchers like Antti Oulasvirta and Ana Lucero highlight his engagement with interactive systems and human factors.
Joongi’s contributions span academic conferences such as CHI, UIST, and DIS, focusing on innovative applications of AI in design processes and ergonomic solutions for non-traditional workspaces.
