Jonathan Thigpen is Associate Professor and Assistant Dean for Curricular Innovation and Professional Development at Samford University's McWhorter School of Pharmacy. He holds a PharmD from Samford and completed dual fellowships in pharmacoepidemiology (UAB) and academia/research (Duquesne University). Previously taught at Notre Dame of Maryland University.
Research encompasses educational innovation, interprofessional collaboration, and viewpoint diversity in health professions. Recent work examines human resource education for pharmacy students, murder mystery simulations for communication training, and institutional frameworks for academic expression.
Honors include AACP leadership fellowships, AJPE Top Reviewer recognition (2019-2023), and teaching awards. Actively contributes to AACP committees and co-authored the Social Media Resource Guide for health educators.
Administrative leadership focuses on implementing competency-based curricula while supporting faculty development through the Academic Leadership Fellows Program.
