Jonathan Rose is an Associate Professor in Politics and Research Methodology at De Montfort University's School of Leadership, Management and Marketing, Faculty of Business and Law. He currently serves as Head of Research Ethics and Programme Leader for the MA Public Leadership and Management. Previously, he was a research fellow at the University of Nottingham (2011-2015), where he completed his PhD in 2012.
His academic qualifications include a BA in Politics (2:1, Warwick, 2007), MA in Politics with distinction (Warwick, 2008), PhD in Politics (Nottingham, 2012) on citizens' perceptions of public integrity, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education with distinction (DMU, 2016).
Professor Rose's research focuses on public policy, corruption, integrity, and social science methodology. He investigates public attitudes towards corruption and integrity, the measurement of these concepts, and the design of local government systems for policy success. His methodological expertise lies in factor analysis and item response theory. His monograph "The Public Understanding of Political Integrity" (Palgrave, 2014) is a key contribution.
Analysis of his recent publications shows a strong emphasis on electoral fairness, Brexit referendum dynamics, local government ethics, and energy policy attitudes. His work consistently employs advanced quantitative methods to address complex governance questions.

Professor Rose has supervised several doctoral and master's students to completion, including projects on international business trust, space program politics, Jordanian governance, and pandemic community responses. His research grants include an ESRC CASE PhD studentship (2008-2011), an ESRC/HK RGC bilateral project on integrity management (2011-2014), and a University of Nottingham Research Development Fund award (2015).
He collaborates extensively with policymakers in local and national government and is currently leading projects on local government system design and the role of the third sector.
