Dr. Jonathan Reimer is an Assistant Professor of History at Eastern University's Templeton Honors College. He specializes in Renaissance and Reformation history, focusing on the interplay between religion, culture, and politics during the early modern period. His research explores how the printing press enabled the spread of radical ideas, particularly within the context of the English Reformation and its global impact.
His current projects include a book on Tudor clergyman Thomas Becon (1512-1567) for Princeton University Press, a study of religious recantation in Reformation Britain, and co-authoring The Spiritual Discipline of History. He has published interdisciplinary work combining history, theology, and bibliography in journals such as Reformation, The Journal of Ecclesiastical History, and Church History.
Scientific awards include a Postdoctoral Fellowship with the Society for Renaissance Studies. He teaches Western Civilization II: Medieval and Renaissance Europe in the Templeton Honors College, emphasizing Great Books seminars and Socratic dialogue.
