Dr. Jonathan Pugmire is an Associate Professor and Department Chair of Physics at Snow College's Natural Science and Mathematics division. As Assistant Director of the Snow Planetarium, he develops educational programs and science displays for the Graham Science Center.
His research in aeronomy focuses on atmospheric gravity waves and temperature variability in the mesosphere, utilizing imaging and satellite data from the Andes Lidar Observatory and Antarctic stations. His work involves advanced signal processing techniques to analyze atmospheric disturbances.
As NASA Utah Space Grant Trustee for Snow College, he coordinates STEM outreach including planetarium shows, star parties, and physics demonstrations. He also directs the college's Service-Learning Program, integrating community engagement with academic instruction.
Honors include the NASA Space Grant Fellowship supporting his PhD research at Utah State University, where he studied mesospheric phenomena through international collaborations.
