Iain M Reid

Professor Iain M Reid is currently affiliated with the School of Chemistry and Physics at the University of Adelaide, where he serves as a faculty member. He also holds the position of Executive Director at ATRAD Pty Ltd and has previously occupied significant roles including Executive Dean at the University of Adelaide's Roseworthy Campus (2012-2015) and research positions at the Max Planck Institute for Aeronomy (1985-1988) and University of Saskatchewan (1984-1985).

His research focuses on Radar and Lidar atmospheric studies, particularly examining Mesosphere Lower Thermosphere (MLT) dynamics, meteor trail analysis, stratospheric-tropospheric interactions, and space domain awareness applications. His work spans atmospheric physics, gravity wave momentum flux, ionospheric disturbances, and instrumentation development.

Recent publications highlight advancements in multi-static meteor radar systems, QBO-MLT interactions, and low-cost holographic cloud imagers. Key research areas include atmospheric tides, planetary wave coupling, and meteor ablation dynamics.
