Jonathan Powell is a Lecturer in Economics at Coventry University, affiliated with the Faculty of Business and Law and the School of Economics, Finance and Accounting. He joined the university in November 2015 and has prior experience as a Lecturer at Keele University and a Teaching Fellow at the University of Warwick.

Powell holds a PhD in Economics, an MSc in Economics and Econometrics, and a BEconSc in Economics, all from the University of Manchester. His doctoral research was funded by an ESRC scholarship.
Research Interests: Jonathan focuses on economic growth and development, particularly the interplay between unsound governance and macroeconomic stability. His work explores how corruption undermines growth through dynamic general equilibrium models and examines policy interventions to mitigate these effects.
Recent Publications: His notable output includes the 2011 article “Corruption, Inflation, and Growth” (co-authored with K. Blackburn), which investigates macroeconomic instability in contexts of corruption.
Scientific Awards: He is recognized as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA), reflecting his commitment to pedagogical excellence.
