Jonathan P. Pearl is an Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He serves as Section Chief of Advanced GI and Minimally Invasive Surgery, Vice Chair of Surgical Services for Quality & Safety at Midtown Campus, and Chief of General Surgery at the Baltimore VA Medical Center.

Dr. Pearl's clinical expertise includes complex hernia surgery, advanced laparoscopy, flexible endoscopy, and gastrointestinal surgery. His research focuses on advanced imaging techniques, intestinal ischemia, and simulation education. He developed the Simulated Colonoscopy Objective Performance Evaluation (SCOPE) tool and contributed to the Fundamentals of Endoscopic Surgery (FES) program.
His work spans collaborations with surgical societies such as the American College of Surgeons and SAGES, with publications in journals like Surgical Endoscopy and American Journal of Surgery.
