Jonathan Newmark

Jonathan Newmark, M.D., M.M., FAAN, is a full professor of neurology at the Uniformed Services University (USUHS), a clinical assistant professor at George Washington University School of Medicine, and a staff neurologist at the Washington DC VA Medical Center. He holds expertise in chemical warfare medicine, disaster response, and neurological disorders. Retired colonel with 20 years of active Army service, he has led chemical casualty care programs and advised the Army Surgeon General. Currently, he serves as Senior Medical Advisor at NIH’s Office of Biodefense Research and Surety, focusing on civilian medical chemical defense.

Education: A.B. magna cum laude from Harvard College (1974), M.D. from Columbia University (1978), and M.M. from University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (2015). Extensive military training includes roles at multiple Army hospitals and deployments to Saudi Arabia, Kosovo, Afghanistan, and others.
