معرفی
Jonathan Lambert is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental Science at Barnard College, joining for the 2024–2025 academic year. He also serves as Visiting Faculty in the Bard College Citizen Science Program and previously taught at Vassar College. His academic work bridges paleoclimate research and modern climate solutions, particularly in geochemical carbon dioxide removal. He holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Earth and Environmental Sciences from Columbia University and a B.S. in Coastal Environmental Science from Louisiana State University.
Education:
- Ph.D., Earth and Environmental Sciences, Columbia University
- M.A., Climate and Society, Columbia University
- B.S., Coastal Environmental Science, Louisiana State University
His research focuses on reconstructing past ocean conditions in the Indo-Pacific Warm Pool using sediment cores and fossil foraminifera, with applications to understanding long-term climate change and nutrient cycling. He integrates his paleoclimate expertise into modern geochemical carbon removal strategies, contributing to both academic and applied climate solutions. His teaching emphasizes connecting student interests in climate solutions with foundational earth science knowledge.
His recent publications span paleoceanography, geochemical proxies, and climate-smart agriculture, reflecting a multidisciplinary approach to climate science. These works explore elemental ratios in foraminifera, nitrogen isotopes in Pacific sediments, and climate services for agriculture, showing a consistent thread of using geological and chemical data to inform both past and future climate understanding.
