Jonathan Green is a Senior Research Fellow at the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) at the University of York. He specializes in biodiversity conservation, sustainable supply chains, and natural capital accounting. His work focuses on tracing the impacts of consumption on biodiversity through global commodity trade chains, particularly in agricultural sectors. He co-leads SEI’s Global Strategic Policy Engagement for the Ocean and Biodiversity.
Dr. Green holds a PhD in Zoology from the University of Cambridge and has held postdoctoral roles at institutions including the University of Oxford and Princeton University. His research integrates ecological and economic analyses to address biodiversity loss and sustainable development goals.
Key projects include TRASE, a supply chain transparency initiative, and Contacted, which models biodiversity risks in global supply chains. He also leads the Indicators for socially-responsible consumption project, supported by N8 AgriFood funds.
Dr. Green is actively involved in interdisciplinary research and policy engagement, aiming to align conservation strategies with equitable socio-economic outcomes. He has supervised multiple research projects and mentors postgraduate students in environmental science and policy.
