Jonathan Goossen is an Associate Professor of English and Chair of the Humanities Department at Ambrose University. He holds a PhD from Dalhousie University and teaches courses on tragedy, comedy, and Renaissance literature. His research focuses on English Renaissance drama, particularly Shakespeare and Ben Jonson, and their engagement with ancient philosophy.

His major work includes Shakespeare, Jonson, and Aristotle on Comedy (2018) and current projects on Janet Lewis’s tragic novels. He explores intersections between literary theory, classical philosophy, and early modern drama.
Recent research examines the afterlives of Ben Jonson’s comic designs in Restoration theater. His writing bridges textual analysis with theological reflection, informed by his Eastern Orthodox faith.
