Jonathan Foo is a Lecturer in Physiotherapy at Monash University, combining academic roles with clinical practice and research. He is Unit Coordinator for multiple units in the Doctor of Physiotherapy and Bachelor of Physiotherapy programs, focusing on preparing students for clinical practice. His research spans three key areas: healthy ageing with a focus on malnutrition, reducing low-value healthcare practices, and health workforce training and development. He maintains a private clinical practice in musculoskeletal physiotherapy and holds external positions including Deeble Scholar at the Australian Healthcare and Hospitals Association and roles at Cabrini Health Limited and Monash Medical Centre.
His research projects include leading initiatives on automated malnutrition screening tools, addressing malnutrition in aged care, and evaluating costs of medical education admissions processes. He has contributed to over 35 peer-reviewed articles, emphasizing healthcare economics, policy, and clinical practice optimization. Notable collaborations include work with institutions like the HCF Research Foundation and the Safer Care Victoria. Jonathan actively supervises HDR students and advocates for evidence-based approaches to healthcare resource allocation and cost-effectiveness.
