Jonathan Crass is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of the Practice at the University of Notre Dame's Department of Physics & Astronomy. He leads development of the iLocater instrument for the Large Binocular Telescope, which aims to detect Earth-like exoplanets through high-precision radial velocity measurements.
His research combines adaptive optics, single-mode fiber coupling, and cryogenic spectrograph design. He previously worked on the Adaptive Optics Lucky Imager project during his PhD at Cambridge. Honored with the SPIE Outreach Grant, he founded Notre Dame's 'Our Universe Revealed' public lecture series and serves as a Royal Astronomical Society Guest Lecturer.
