Jonathan Cope

Jonathan Cope is an Assistant Professor and Reference/Instruction Librarian at the College of Staten Island (CSI), CUNY. He has been with CSI since 2007, contributing to library instruction, virtual reference services, and professional activities. His research focuses on the intersection of library practices with social, cultural, and economic contexts, emphasizing the political dimensions of libraries.

• Education: M.A. from CUNY Graduate Center, MLIS from Queens College, and B.A. from Antioch College.

His publications explore critical information literacy, the historical role of libraries in labor movements, and neoliberal critiques of information systems. Recent works include analyses of student intolerance in education and faculty-student communication barriers.
