Jean Cook is a Professor and Instructional Librarian at the University of West Georgia (UWG) since 2007. She serves as a key member of the UWG Library and the Learning And Research Services team, focusing on providing academic resources, instruction, and reference support. Her roles include administering the library's reference services (email/chat) and managing research guides/websites. She acts as the primary library liaison to the College of Education, Department of Natural Sciences, Department of Computing and Math, and Tanner Health System School of Nursing.
Education: B.S. in Physics (2005), B.S. in Mathematics (2005) from Southern Polytechnic State University; MLIS in Library & Information Studies (2007) from University of Alabama; M.S. in Applied Computer Science (2010) from UWG.
Research interests emphasize effective library support for STEM programs and improving library instruction/reference services. She teaches LIBR-2100 (Information Literacy & Research), offering both in-person and online sections since at least 2020. Office hours include virtual support via library chat and research desk consultations.
