He earned his Ph.D. and M.A. in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his B.A. in English from Davidson College.
Dr. Glance's research utilizes archival materials from the Margaret Herrick Library to investigate Hollywood adaptation processes, focusing on pre-production documents such as screenplay drafts and correspondence. His recent projects analyze John Huston's The Man Who Would Be King and Billy Wilder's Double Indemnity, exploring how literary works transform into film through material evidence.
His teaching portfolio includes Literature and Film (ENG 237, ENG 382), the English Novel (ENG 349), Victorian Poetry and Prose (ENG 348), Romantic Era literature (ENG 347), and the Integrative Studies writing course (INT 101).
His 2017-2023 publications consistently examine adaptation through screenplay analysis, contributing to key volumes in adaptation studies. His work bridges literary scholarship and film studies by emphasizing archival traces of the creative process, with recurring focus on Huston's adaptations and theoretical frameworks for understanding narrative transformation.
