Jonathan Banks, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience at Nova Southeastern University's College of Psychology. He maintains his office in Parker 241 and can be contacted at (954) 262-7965.
Dr. Banks' research focuses on working memory, mind wandering, and attentional control. Specifically, he investigates the role of working memory in controlling mind wandering and how mind wandering affects current task performance. His research also examines the impact of acute and chronic stress on cognitive function, with particular interest in interventions such as expressive writing and mindfulness meditation that may alter stress-related working memory and executive functioning impairments.
His educational background includes a Ph.D. from the University of North Texas, an M.S. from North Carolina State University, and a B.A. from North Carolina State University.
Dr. Banks has participated in various university activities including the Psychology Graduate Recognized for Research on 'Reframing' Working Memory and studies on whether pet therapy helps college students de-stress during exams.
