Dr. Jonathan Ambler serves as a Senior Academic Tutor (Years 3-5) at the Peninsula Medical School within the University of Plymouth's Faculty of Health, concurrently holding the position of Consultant in Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia and Intensive Care at Derriford Hospital's South West Cardiothoracic Centre since 2005. In 2022, he was appointed Clinical Lead for Cardiac Intensive Care at the same institution. His qualifications include an MBBS (University of London, 1993), FRCA (1999), MD (University of London, 2009), and FFICM (2012), supplemented by certification in Perioperative Transesophageal Echocardiography (2004). He maintains professional memberships with the General Medical Council, Royal College of Anaesthetists, Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine, and Association for Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia and Critical Care.
His research focuses on cardiothoracic interventions, resuscitation science, and critical care innovations, with specific expertise in defibrillation technology, echocardiography applications, perioperative management, and ICU protocols.
