Jonas Rosenbrueck is an Assistant Professor of German at Amherst College. He holds a Ph.D. in Comparative Literary Studies and German from Northwestern University and a B.A. in Philosophy from Yale University. His teaching focuses on German cultural history, literature, and contemporary issues like politics, migration, and gender/sexuality. He has developed courses on literature post-fascism, borders, migration, and German poetry.
Rosenbrueck's research explores Germanophone and Francophone literatures, philosophy, nationalism, and ecocriticism. His first book, *Common Scents* (2024), examines olfactory culture and modernity. His second project critiques postfascist masculinities in German-Austrian literature and art. He has published in *Colloquia Germanica*, *Comparative Literature*, and *The Germanic Review*, among others, and presented at institutions like Harvard and NYU.
Active in community education, he directed volunteer development for the Northwestern Prison Education Program and collaborates with Western Mass CORE. His work bridges literary analysis with social justice themes, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to culture and politics.
