Jonas Mureika

Jonas Mureika is a Professor and Chair of Physics at Loyola Marymount University (LMU), part of the Frank R. Seaver College of Science and Engineering. He maintains a joint affiliation with the Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics at UC Santa Barbara. His research centers on theoretical physics, with emphasis on cosmology, quantum gravity, and the 'big bounce' model of universal origins.

Mureika actively mentors students through LMU's Seaver Summer Research Community, which hosts over 80 participants annually for hands-on projects. His expertise extends to public science communication, including analysis of high-pressure implosions and cosmological theories for major publications.
