Jonas Lundberg is a Professor in Human Centered Design at Linköping University's Department of Science and Technology (ITN), within the Media and Information Technology (MIT) division. He leads a research program focused on designing controllable, resilient, and comprehensible AI/automation systems for mission-critical domains like Air Traffic Management, Maritime Traffic, and Emergency Response. His work emphasizes theories of human-automation interaction to develop methods, tools, and design concepts for control systems.
Lundberg holds a Master's in Cognitive Science (1999), a Doctorate in Computer Science (2005), and a Docent in Cognitive Systems (2012), all from Linköping University. His research team collaborates with industry and government on projects funded by initiatives like the Wallenberg Autonomous Systems Program (WASP). Notable contributions include the UTM City project for drone traffic visualization and the Digital Tower Assistant (DiTA) for remote tower systems.
His research interests span Human-AI collaboration, resilience engineering, and crisis management. Key achievements include over 50 publications, supervision of multiple PhD students, and the development of decision support tools for air traffic control. Lundberg's work bridges academia and industry, addressing challenges in automation trust, adaptive control, and resilient system design.
