Jonas Boustedt is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Gävle, where he has been employed since 1998 and earned his PhD in Computer Science in 2010. His research focuses on learning and teaching in Computer Science, particularly programming, software development, threshold concepts, and self-directed learning. He is an active member of the international research team 'Sweden Group,' collaborating with scholars from Sweden, England, and the USA.
His work explores how students perceive and master key concepts like class diagrams, software design, and threshold skills. He emphasizes phenomenography and role-play to study student experiences in large-scale software development. His research also investigates the impact of AI (e.g., ChatGPT) on programming education and the role of active learning in computer science pedagogy.
Jonas is Head of Department and advocates for integrating collaborative teaching methods, especially in mathematics teacher education. He has published extensively on topics such as student transformations, liminal spaces in learning, and the ethical implications of AI in educational settings.
