معرفی
Dr. Jonaki Sen is a Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences & Bioengineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. Her research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms of vertebrate neuronal development, including neuron generation, migration, differentiation, and connection formation with appropriate targets.
Her research interests include:
- Vertebrate neuronal development
- Molecular mechanisms of neuron generation
- Neuronal migration patterns
- Neuronal differentiation processes
- Formation of neural connections
- Visual system development
- Cortex development
- Hippocampus development
Dr. Sen's laboratory utilizes developing chick and mouse models to study these processes in the visual system, cortex, and hippocampus. Her work has significantly contributed to understanding the molecular regulation of neural development and patterning across species.
She has received the Julius Marmur Research Award for outstanding performance in academic Ph.D. research, awarded by the Sue Golding Graduate Division, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York, USA.
Her publication record demonstrates expertise across developmental biology, neuroscience, and molecular biology, with particular focus on neural patterning, gene expression regulation in developing neural tissues, and comparative neuroanatomy between avian and mammalian systems.
