Jon Welty Peachey serves as Dean of Academic Affairs and Professor of Sport Management and Leadership in the School of Business at Gordon College, where he joined the administration and faculty in 2022. He teaches within the sport management concentration and previously held faculty positions at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and Texas A&M University.
His educational background includes a B.S. from Goshen College, M.Ed. from Temple University, and Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut. Prior to academia, he spent over a decade as a senior administrator in international sport for development.
Dr. Peachey's research specializes in optimizing sport for development program design, management, and leadership to achieve positive individual and community outcomes. His work bridges theoretical frameworks with practical applications in global sport contexts, emphasizing leadership strategies and community impact assessment.
He has published over 100 scholarly articles and book chapters, authored Managing and Leveraging Events (Routledge), and edited multiple handbooks. His editorial leadership includes serving as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Intercollegiate Sport and Associate Editor for the Journal of Sport Management.
