Jon Silbernagel serves as the Coordinator of Strength and Conditioning and Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for the University of Regina Rams within the School of Kinesiology and Health Studies. His responsibilities encompass overseeing strength and conditioning programs for Men's and Women's Hockey and Basketball teams, managing athletic performance development across 11 varsity squads.
His educational background includes:
- Undergraduate degree from the University of Regina (completed 1999)
- Master of Science research at the University of Regina (initiated 2008) investigating exercise timing intervals for heart failure patients
Professional experience spans cardiac rehabilitation at the Dr. Paul Schwann Centre post-undergrad, therapeutic exercise services since 2016 involving health assessments, personal training, and rehabilitation planning for WCB/SGI clients. His academic teaching role as a sessional lecturer integrates practical sports science with clinical rehabilitation principles. Current leadership includes supervising 11 graduate interns who implement all varsity sport programming, demonstrating significant mentorship in athletic development.
Research interests focus on Strength and Conditioning methodologies, Cardiac Rehabilitation protocols, Exercise Science applications in chronic disease management, Sports Medicine for injury prevention, Rehabilitation Science for workplace injuries, and holistic Health and Fitness optimization – directly reflected in his dual clinical-athletic career trajectory spanning therapeutic and elite performance environments.
