Jon Sadler is a Professor of Biogeography at the University of Birmingham's School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences. He serves as Editor in Chief of the Journal of Biogeography and holds fellowships from the Royal Geographical Society and Royal Entomological Society. His research bridges biogeography, ecology, urban design, and hydrology, focusing on species dynamics in urban and island ecosystems, riparian management, and climate change impacts. He uses interdisciplinary methods combining field studies, experimentation, and computational tools like R.
Teaching interests include Earth systems, urban ecology, and environmental modeling. He leads projects in the Birmingham Plastics Network, addressing plastic pollution through interdisciplinary collaboration. Key awards include his Royal Society fellowships and editorial roles.
