Dr. Jon Roozenbeek is a Lecturer in Psychology and Security at the Department of War Studies, King's College London. He holds a PhD in Slavonic Studies (2020) from the University of Cambridge, where his dissertation examined media and identity building in wartime Donbas. His academic affiliations include the NIHR Health Protection Research Unit in Emergency Preparedness and Response.
Research Interests focus on the psychology of misinformation, propaganda, and digital public policy, with emphasis on the Russian-Ukrainian War, social media dynamics, and authoritarianism drivers. He has authored two books: The Psychology of Misinformation and Propaganda and Ideology in the Russian-Ukrainian War (both 2024).
Publications span high-impact journals like Nature and Science Advances, with notable work on prebunking strategies, inoculation theory, and cross-cultural measurement of political intolerance. Recent awards include the 2025 Jim Sidanius Early Career Award for his contributions to understanding manipulation tactics.
Teaching includes MA modules on Disasters and Extreme Events, and Responding to Terrorism. Supervision of two PhD students focuses on polarization reduction and cross-cultural authoritarianism analysis. Active in policy initiatives, he co-authored guidelines for prebunking and contributed to NATO's strategic communications efforts.
