Dr Jon Phelan is a Tutor and Director of Studies Fellow in Philosophy at the University of Cambridge. He specializes in the philosophy of literature, epistemology, and the intersection of ethics with literary criticism. His research explores the epistemic value of close reading, the relationship between moral and literary value, and the potential for literary criticism to cultivate intellectual virtues applicable to ethical decision-making.

Jon has supervised PhD students on the Cambridge Philosophy Tripos for over a decade and teaches non-technical papers in philosophy.
