Jon Olav Hove is an Associate Professor at the Department of Historical and Classical Studies, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). He specializes in heritage studies, focusing on the memory of slavery, slave trade, and colonialism in West Africa and Scandinavia. His work bridges African and European historical contexts, emphasizing the transatlantic dimensions of heritage.
His research interests include African history, colonial studies, and the politics of memory. Notably, he explores the legacy of Danish-Norwegian involvement in the transatlantic slave trade and the restoration of colonial forts in Ghana. He supervises students in cultural heritage management and history at both BA and MA levels.
