Jon Moore is an Associate Professor of Biology at Pomona College since 2012. He specializes in the evolutionary origins of adaptive immunity and mathematical biology, with a focus on genetic regulation in sea lamprey and bony fishes.
- Ph.D. from University of California, Los Angeles
- Bachelor of Science from University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill
His research bridges immunology, bioinformatics, and molecular evolution, particularly examining gene structure prediction, horizontal gene transfer, and graph theory in evolutionary studies. Recent publications highlight his work on T-cell development and lamprey gene regulation.
Moore contributes to computational biology through methods for syntenic DNA analysis and phylogenetic modeling. He teaches foundational courses like Introductory Genetics with Lab and Introduction to Cell Chemistry & Cell Biology with Lab.
