Jon Kvist is a Professor of European Public Policies and Well-being at Roskilde School of Governance, Roskilde University, where he oversees the PhD program in Public Policy and Administration and co-directs VELNET (Danish National Network for Welfare State Studies). He serves on key Danish government commissions, including the Reform Commission addressing youth marginalization and employment, and the Expert Committee on Social Affairs. As a member of the European Social Policy Network (ESPN), he advises the EU on social policy matters since 2014. His work focuses on welfare state reforms, social policy, and behavioral public policy.
Education: PhD & MSc in Public Administration.
Research interests include Nordic welfare models, public policy effectiveness, EU social policy integration, and social investment strategies. He has contributed to over 134 research outputs, including books, journal articles, and policy reports. His recent studies explore aging populations in Nordic welfare states, child welfare guarantees, and pension systems.
Key activities include leading national and international research projects like Mc-COVID19 (2020-2021) and Big Data & Behavioral Public Policy (2017-2020). He is a member of expert networks such as the Danish Unemployment Insurance Commission and the European Group of Public Administration. Awards include the 2019 Det gyldne grupperum prize.
