Jon Ensor is a Professor at the Stockholm Environment Institute at the University of York and Director of the Interdisciplinary Global Development Centre (IGDC). His research focuses on equitable human development, particularly in disaster risk reduction, environmental change, and climate justice. He co-edits the journal Climate and Development and leads the Equitable Technology Lab. His work emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches, partnering with marginalized communities to address social justice in resilience frameworks.
Ensor's research spans climate adaptation, urban governance, and participatory planning, with notable projects in Mozambique, Nepal, and Vanuatu. He has received an award for resilience-building efforts in Mozambique (2019). His recent work explores equitable technology design, decolonizing research practices, and food systems resilience.
