Jon Daniel Laman is a Professor in the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the University of Groningen, affiliated with the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG) in the departments of Onco-Immunology (O-I) and Translational Immunology Groningen (TRIGR). His research focuses on neuroimmunology, autoimmune disorders, and microbial-immune interactions. He has supervised 32 PhD students and led projects such as the AL-Xtra initiative exploring fetal-maternal microchimerism.
Key research interests include Multiple Sclerosis, T/B cell biology, and the role of peptidoglycan in immune responses. He has published over 294 articles and contributed to datasets on microglia homeostasis and myelin phagocytosis.
Award highlights include the 2024 Prof. Jon van Rood Medal and the 2003 Erasmus Prize for a life science business plan. He has served on editorial boards (e.g., iScience) and delivered lectures on topics like immunotherapy in neurological diseases.
