Jon Christian Svendsen

Jon Christian Svendsen is a Senior Researcher at the National Institute of Aquatic Resources (DTU Aqua), Technical University of Denmark, specializing in freshwater and marine fisheries ecology. His research focuses on understanding fish behavior, habitat utilization, and population dynamics in various aquatic environments, with particular emphasis on how human-made structures impact marine ecosystems.

Dr. Svendsen's research interests include fish telemetry applications, marine biodiversity assessment, and fisheries management. His work frequently examines the ecological role of anthropogenic structures such as oil platforms as artificial reefs in the North Sea, investigating their effects on fish abundance, biodiversity, and community structure. He also studies species-specific behaviors, particularly of Atlantic cod and brown trout, using advanced tracking technologies.

His recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on marine habitat restoration through eco-engineering solutions, the ecological impacts of artificial structures in marine environments, and the dynamics of fish populations in changing ecosystems.
