Dr. Jolle Jolles is a researcher at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and founder of the Jolleslab, focusing on understanding collective animal behavior, individual heterogeneity, and open-source hardware applications in ecological research. After completing postdoctoral work at the University of Konstanz and Max Planck Institute for Ornithology, he now explores how animals like jackdaws, sticklebacks, and cavefish adapt socially and individually to environmental changes.
His research combines
- robotic fish experiments
- fieldwork on drought-affected freshwater ecosystems
- computational modeling
- low-cost open electronics
Scientific contributions include
- Ramon y Cajal Fellowship
- 15+ peer-reviewed publications
- development of pirecorder software
- key insights into predator-prey interactions
He actively supervises PhD student Marçal Pou Rossell and disseminates findings through conferences like #ISBE2022 and ASAB Summer Conference. His work has received grants including the Young Scholar Fund for drought impact studies and continues to push methodological boundaries in biological research.
