Jolene Lin is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law, National University of Singapore (NUS) and Director of the Asia-Pacific Centre for Environmental Law. She holds a PhD from Erasmus University Rotterdam, LLM from New York University, and LLB from the London School of Economics, alongside being an Advocate & Solicitor in Singapore. Her research focuses on climate change law, transnational environmental governance, and climate litigation in the Global South.
Her expertise spans climate litigation strategies, shipping sector regulations, and the role of subnational actors in environmental policymaking. She has authored influential books such as Governing Climate Change: Global Cities and Transnational Lawmaking (2018) and Litigating Climate Change in the Global South (2024, co-authored with Jacqueline Peel). She serves on editorial boards for journals like Journal of Environmental Law and advises organizations including the UN Special Rapporteur on the right to development and the ICC Global Environment and Energy Commission.
Jolene teaches tort law and climate change law at NUS, earning the Teaching Excellence Award in 2020 and 2023. Her work bridges legal scholarship and practical advocacy, emphasizing equitable climate governance and transnational legal frameworks.
