Professor Johnjoe McFadden is a Professor of Molecular Genetics and Associate Dean (International) at the University of Surrey's School of Biosciences within the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences. He holds a BSc (Biochemistry) from Bedford College, University of London (1978) and a PhD (Biochemistry) from Imperial College, University of London (1982). His research focuses on systems biology, mycobacterial genetics, tuberculosis pathogenicity, and quantum biology. He has held roles such as Reader, Lecturer, and Research Fellow prior to his current position.
His work spans antimicrobial drug development, bacterial persistence mechanisms, and consciousness theories. Notable contributions include developing diagnostic tests for infectious diseases, studying nitrogen metabolism in tuberculosis, and advancing electromagnetic field theories of consciousness. Collaborations include projects with Graham Stewart and others exploring novel diagnostic tools and vaccine candidates.
Recent publications highlight innovations in metabolic flux analysis, rapid diagnostic technologies, and interdisciplinary studies linking quantum phenomena to biological processes. His research bridges microbiology, neuroscience, and biotechnology, addressing global health challenges like drug-resistant infections.
