John de Groot

Dr. John de Groot is a Professor in Residence at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) School of Medicine, where he serves as Chief of the Division of Neuro-Oncology in the Department of Neurological Surgery and holds a secondary appointment in the Department of Neurology. He is an internationally recognized leader in brain tumor treatment, specializing in immunotherapy, focused ultrasound, and targeted therapies for glioblastomas and other gliomas.

Dr. de Groot’s research focuses on glioma immunotherapy, enhancing drug delivery across the blood-brain barrier, and overcoming tumor resistance to treatment. He has led numerous clinical trials for glioblastoma therapies and emphasizes translational research bridging laboratory discoveries to clinical practice.

His scientific accolades include awards from the American Brain Tumor Association, AACR, and ASCO Cancer Foundation. Dr. de Groot has mentored countless junior faculty, fellows, residents, and students across clinical and basic science disciplines.
